History
Bennett Surf was born out of Barry Bennett’s passion for surfing and his desire to improve the quality of surfboards available in Australia. In the late 1950s, Barry faced a challenge with the unreliable balsa wood used for manufacturing lightweight Malibu boards. Determined to find a solution, he began experimenting with foam and fiberglass, eventually developing a new method for creating durable and high-performance surfboards. By 1959, Barry had established a factory in Harbord, Sydney, and Bennett Surf was officially in business1.
Over the years, Bennett Surf has grown to become a major player in the surf industry, known for its innovative designs and commitment to quality. We have maintained strong ties with lifesaving clubs and have been a leading manufacturer of surf-skis and rescue boards.
